Clerkenwell Design Week 2024

Clerkenwell Design Week returned this year for its 13th edition, bringing together the architecture and design community with over 600 curated events, 160 design showrooms, and 300 brands. With site-specific installations, special projects, and collaborations across Clerkenwell, here are some highlights that caught our eye:

Solus Ceramics

Quickly becoming a major hub during the design festival, the two-floor Solus Ceramics showroom featured a packed programme of events throughout the week. Highlights included “Laboratory” by Refin Ceramiche, an interactive installation designed by Halloway Li, AHMM's presentation on their 'Delivering Net Zero In Use Toolkit,' workshops and talks by Narinder Sagoo, Caroline Till, and Kate Ray. Each evening featured live music performances by Juice Aleem and DJ A La Fu, capped off with a headline DJ set by Daniel Avery.

Dare Studio

Sussex-based Dare Studio launched Dare Contract at St James's Church, focusing on furniture for high-traffic environments. The collection combines meticulous attention to detail with sustainable materials, creating durable and beautiful pieces designed for longevity in demanding settings.

Tile maker Bert & May launched ‘Pour,’ a new collection by fashion designer Henry Holland, featuring his signature nerikomi-inspired swirls.

Granite + Smoke

Sustainable textile brand Granite + Smoke unveiled a new rug collection with Roger Oates Design. Made from 100% British blended wool, the rugs feature a 3D pile effect achieved through specialist hand techniques. Produced in Devon, these rugs combine traditional craftsmanship with modern technology.

Tabitha Bargh

Brighton-based designer Tabitha Bargh’s lighting collection ‘Poly’ repurposes waste estate agent boards made from Correx into stylish interior lighting. This innovative approach offers a sustainable twist on repurposing materials, embodying the eco-conscious spirit of the festival.
